Meet the robotic recruiter looking to simplify the job search

Recruiters are no strangers to the influx of AI, and are regularly told that they should be embracing the changes brought about by evolutions in technology. The development is the use of recruiter bots in the hiring process.

A recent article has explained how one company, Mya Systems, is using AI to help recruiters screen lots of candidates.

Eyal Grayevsky, Founder of Mya Systems, hopes that their chatbots can be used to aid recruiters, not replace them.

He has said: “When the candidate applies for a job, Mya introduces herself and takes them through a conversation.” The chatbot will then ask simple questions such as, ‘Can you work in the evenings? Are you comfortable with the pay range? Do you have forklift experience? How soon can you start?’

The idea was reportedly born out of Grayevsky’s own job search experiences. He supposedly applied for 40 positions and only heard back from two, leading him to claim that around 85% of candidate applications fall into a “black hole”, and never receive a response. Recruiters, who often struggle to handle the huge influx of CVs, can now turn to technology for help

Alistair Cox, CEO of Hays, recently expressed his own flirtation with AI in a blog post. However, he also added that you can never really take the human side away from the sector. “I’m yet to see an algorithm that can read things like humor, temperament or enthusiasm as effectively as a person can,” he also wrote. “And, let’s not forget that ultimately human oversight is still required to compile criteria – I certainly wouldn’t want a machine deciding the persona of my business, and I don’t think it would do a particularly good job yet.”
